Pirate Party!

Ahoy there! Today we had our pirate party - arrrr! We all came to school dressed as pirates and Mrs Orton put some face paint on us so we had pictures of treasure chests, pirate flags or scars on our faces! When we got to the penfold we had snack - we had drink in our pirate cups and ate fruit and the pirate cakes we made yesterday on our special pirate plates!

Then we played some pirate games and listened to some pirate songs! We played musical bumps, pass the parcel, Treasure Island, pin the eye patch on the pirate and musical statues and we won some pirate prizes!

We all had lots of fun and we're looking forward to taking our pirate party bags home!

Circus Skills!

This morning we had a visitor - Rico, who works in the circus! He came to show us some of his special tricks and to teach us a few as well! We spun hoops around on our fingers and hands, balanced and gripped feathers in our hands and behind our ears, threw and tried to catch scarves which blew in the wind and spun plates around on our fingers and on sticks! Rico also showed us his juggling, with clubs, balls and scarves. We were also very excited to see the giant bubbles Rico made - they were enormous and changed shape as they moved through the air.

We had a fantastic morning watching Rico and trying some of the circus skills ourselves - look at our photos to see how much fun we had!

Woodland Adventure!

On Monday morning we walked up to the woods and went exploring! We used binoculars and magnifying glasses and took some books with us to help us identify different plants, trees, birds and animals. We also used the walkie talkies so people at the front of the group could talk to people at the back. We took a bag to collect interesting things - we found lots!

In the afternoon we looked at all the things we had collected and sorted them into groups. We used the books to help identify them - Hope found out that the leaves she had collected were from sycamore trees, and she's in sycamore house! Then we used the things we'd collected to make a collage.

Walkie-talkies!

Today we got our prize for winning the school blog competition. It was some walkie-talkies! We learnt how to use them and split into two groups, testing them out around the school.

"We played hide and seek. We couldn't find Mrs Waites and the apples and bananas!" Olivia

"The walkie-talkies were fun to use." Grace

"When you're far away you can still hear them." Trystan

"It took a long time to find us!" Matthew

"We could talk into them. We gave some clues to say where we were." Lilly

Creating a treasure hunt!

We were inspired by the treasure hunt we followed yesterday and have been very busy yesterday and today creating a treasure hunt for Miss Worsley! We put a message that said "If you want some treasure you must follow this map!" and a treasure map that we had drawn into a bottle and delivered it to Miss Worsley.

The map showed the pirate ship and said "start here" - when Miss Worsley went to the pirate ship she found the first clue!

The clue told her to go to the mermaid lagoon, where she found the next clue.

The clue said "Go to the water. Watch out for sharks!" Miss Worsley had to be very careful not to get eaten by the sharks when she got the next clue!

The clue said "Walk through the swamp. Be careful of the crocodiles!" Miss Worsley squelched her way through the swamp and found the next clue. She managed to avoid the crocodiles - just!

The next clue said "Go to the forbidden mountains if you are brave enough!" Miss Worsley was very brave and followed the map to find the forbidden mountains.

The final clue said "Go to the gloomy forest if you want to find the treasure!" Miss Worsley did want the treasure, so she went past the sign that said "Danger! Do not enter!" and into the gloomy forest...

In the gloomy forest she found an X marking the spot! She began to dig...

and found a treasure box!

Inside the treasure box was... lots of treasure!!

Thank you Miss Worsley for following our treasure hunt - we hope you had fun!
