Christmas Science!

This afternoon we have been doing some Christmassy science! We made... candy cane goo!

We used cornflour and slowly added water to it. We stirred it in and explored the way it felt and how we could move our fingers through it. Then we made some more cornflour mix with some red food colouring in and swirled it into the white to make red and white swirls! As we kept stirring, the red and the white mixed together to make pink. To make it smell like candy canes we added some peppermint essence.

It was fun to explore the texture of the goo and see what happened when we mixed it with our hands. We could move our fingers through it quickly, but it was harder when we tried to move them slowly.

We had lots of fun learning and exploring in science this afternoon and got rather messy too!!
